In the industrial landscape of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, where high-pressure airflow is required in the presence of volatile gases or combustible dust, standard fans are insufficient. Explosion-Proof Centrifugal Blowers are specifically designed to handle high static pressure—ideal for pulling air through long duct runs or filtration banks—while eliminating any risk of mechanical or electrical ignition.
EKG M&E Sdn Bhd provides high-performance, ATEX and IECEx certified centrifugal solutions tailored for chemical processing, oil & gas, and heavy manufacturing.
Unlike axial fans, centrifugal blowers have a complex internal geometry where the impeller spins within a scroll housing. To prevent sparks during a mechanical fault, we follow AMCA 99-0401 classifications:
AMCA Type A (Highest Protection): All parts of the blower in the airstream are constructed of non-ferrous material (typically Aluminum or Monel). This ensures that no part of the fan can create a spark if a component fails or shifts.
AMCA Type B: Features a non-ferrous impeller and a non-ferrous "rub plate" around the shaft entry. If the impeller strikes the housing, it will not create a ferrous spark.
AMCA Type C: Offers basic protection by using a non-ferrous inlet cone and rub ring. This ensures the first point of contact in a failure is non-sparking.
As an HVAC and Clean Air Specialist, we select blower designs based on your specific "Air Chemistry" and pressure requirements:
Backward-Inclined (BI) Impellers: These are highly efficient and "non-overloading," meaning the motor won't burn out if the system pressure changes. They are ideal for clean air exhaust in hazardous zones.
Radial Blade Blowers: Used for Material Handling (e.g., sawdust or chemical powders). These are ruggedly built to allow particles to pass through the fan without causing an imbalance that could lead to friction-driven ignition.
Flameproof (Ex d) Motors: All our blowers are paired with motors housed in heavy-duty, flame-containment enclosures, ensuring that any internal electrical fault is isolated from the external environment.
| Feature | Requirement | EKG M&E Implementation |

A centrifugal blower operates under significant centrifugal force. If the impeller becomes unbalanced, it can strike the housing, creating a major explosion risk. Our specialized maintenance includes:
Dynamic Vibration Analysis: we use FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) analyzers to detect bearing wear or impeller "loading" before it causes a mechanical strike.
Shaft Seal Integrity: In chemical extraction, the shaft seal prevents toxic/flammable gas from leaking into the motor room. We perform regular leak-rate audits and seal replacements.
VFD Synchronization: We integrate Variable Frequency Drives located in safe zones to provide "Soft-Starts." This prevents the high-torque "jerk" that can cause belt slippage and friction heat in hazardous areas.
JKKP (DOSH) LEV Certification: We provide the mandatory annual testing and "Ex" integrity certification required for hazardous area blowers in Malaysia.
Chemical-Resistant Options: For highly corrosive environments, we offer blowers made from PP (Polypropylene) or FRP (Fiberglass) with anti-static additives.
Strategic Support: Based in Kuala Lumpur, we provide turnkey engineering—from initial Hazardous Area Classification to final commissioning and 24/7 emergency repairs.
