Acetylene is a synthesis gas generally produced from the reaction of water with Calcium Carbide. A colorless flammable gas, it is slightly lighter than air and has strong garlic-like odor. It is unstable and highly combustible and produces very hot flame when combined with Oxygen to over 3000°C. Acetylene is highly soluble in acetone and DMF (Dimethylformamide).
