High Alumina Cement (HAC) is a special type of cement made by fusing or sintering a mixture of bauxite (aluminium ore) and limestone. Unlike ordinary Portland cement, it has a high content of alumina (typically 35–80%), which gives it unique properties.
HAC is darker in color (usually grey to black), rapid hardening — gains strength much faster than normal cement and is excellent resistant to high temperatures, chemicals, and sulfates.
Application
Refractory linings (furnaces, kilns)
Sewer and marine structures
Rapid concrete repairs
Precast in harsh environments
Chemical and industrial plants
Cold weather concreting
Benefits
Rapid strength gain – early high strength within 24 hours
Excellent heat resistance – ideal for high-temperature environments
Chemical resistance – performs well in acidic or sulfate-rich conditions
Minimal shrinkage – maintains dimensional stability
Low permeability – enhances durability and reduces corrosion risk
Improved resistance to abrasion – suitable for heavy-duty surfaces
Performs well in cold climates – suitable for winter concreting
