In a blast event, the shock wave front created will smash through normal glass features violently. The glass is too fragile and has low impact resistance to stand up against the explosive force and any objects it has picked up. Besides the hazardous blast force getting through, equally dangerous is the generation of countless glass shards flying into the protected space, causing greater casualties and damage. These flying shards in most cases are even more deadly.

An Anti-Blast Glass is designed and installed to counter the blast load and stay intact. It must, together with the blast framing system, withstand the blast without being perforated or blown away. At the same time, the rear-facing glass of the laminated panel should not release any sizeable glass shards to cause personnel injuries.

In today’s geopolitical environment, it is indispensable to include an assessment of the blast threats when a security review of an installation or facility is undertaken, especially so when the risk profile of the locality or the sensitivity of its function is raised. Foreign missions, financial institutions and their facilities, high profile business / corporations are typical users of this product.
