QEED Isolated Signal Converter

QA-VI Current / Voltage Converter

The QEED QA-VI is a 4-way galvanically isolated voltage or current signal converter with analogue input, programmable analogue output, relay alarm output and RS485 Modbus RTU communication. It is suitable for industrial signal conversion, monitoring, alarm and data acquisition applications.

The module behaves as a Modbus RTU slave device with 1 analogue input, 1 analogue output and 1 digital relay output. It can also perform datalogging through USB On-The-Go using a pen drive, with an integrated real-time clock for timestamped data storage.

Overview

QA-VI is used when a field voltage or current signal must be isolated, converted, retransmitted, monitored and made available through Modbus RTU. It can convert analogue signals into programmable voltage or current output while also providing a relay alarm and RS485 communication.

The 17.5mm DIN rail format makes it suitable for control panels, machine panels, energy monitoring systems, process instrumentation, BMS, EMS, SCADA, PLC and industrial IoT applications.

Positioning: 4-way isolated current / voltage signal converter with programmable analogue output, alarm relay, RS485 Modbus and USB datalogging.

Key Features

Voltage or Current Input

Accepts programmable voltage input up to 10Vdc or current input up to 20mA.

RS485 Modbus RS485 Modbus RTU slave on terminals or optional base adapter Digital integration to SCADA, EMS, BMS, PLC and IoT gateways

4-Way Isolation

QA-VI is designed with 4-way galvanic isolation between the input, analogue / digital outputs, RS485 / USB communication and power supply. This helps reduce signal interference and protects systems where different parts of the installation may have different electrical references.

Isolation paths: Input, analogue and digital output, RS485 / USB communication and power supply are galvanically isolated at 1.5kV.

Datalogging Function

QA-VI includes datalogging using a USB On-The-Go port and pen drive memory. The integrated real-time clock enables timestamped data storage. Logged data can be downloaded in Excel-importable files for analysis, reporting or troubleshooting.

  • USB pen drive data logging
  • Integrated RTC real-time clock
  • Configuration of logging parameters through FACILE QA-VI
  • Storage data export in Excel-importable format
  • Useful for temporary measurement, commissioning and fault investigation

Typical Applications

Signal Isolation

Isolate and retransmit voltage or current signals between instruments and control systems.

PLC / SCADA Integration

Convert analogue field signals into PLC analogue input, Modbus RTU data and alarm output.

BMS and EMS Panels

Use in building and energy management systems for signal conversion and alarm monitoring.

Temporary Logging

Use USB logging for commissioning, troubleshooting, trend capture and site investigations.

Process Monitoring

Convert sensor or transmitter signals into standard output formats for industrial monitoring.

IoTWatt 4.0

Can be integrated through Modbus RTU or compatible input modules into IoTWatt 4.0 systems.

Configuration

QA-VI can be configured using the free FACILE QA-VI software through USB or RS485. The software allows configuration of conversion parameters, span, zero, alarm contact, logging settings and Modbus communication parameters.

  • Configure voltage or current input range
  • Configure analogue output range and scaling
  • Set span and zero
  • Set relay alarm threshold and behaviour
  • Configure Modbus address and baud rate
  • Configure USB datalogging interval and data storage
  • Use DIP switches for basic Modbus address and baud rate settings
Commissioning note: Confirm input type, output type, scaling, relay alarm logic and Modbus settings before connecting the module into a live control or monitoring system.

System Integration

QA-VI is suitable for converting and isolating field signals before they are connected to PLC, SCADA, BMS, EMS, Modbus gateway, data logger or IoTWatt 4.0. The combination of analogue output, relay output, RS485 Modbus and USB datalogging makes it useful for both permanent and temporary measurement applications.

  • Use analogue output for direct PLC or controller connection
  • Use relay output for alarm or threshold indication
  • Use RS485 Modbus RTU for digital system integration
  • Use USB datalogging for commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Use optional base connection for cleaner multi-module panel wiring
