Johor To Host 2026 International Museum Day Festival, Targeting 125,000 Visitors
🏛️ Johor has been selected to host the 2026 National-level International Museum Day Festival, an event expected to attract more than 125,000 visitors from Malaysia and abroad. The festival will strengthen Johor’s position as a leading heritage and cultural tourism destination, especially as the state continues to build momentum around Visit Johor 2026 and wider tourism promotion efforts.
🌏 The festival carries the theme “Museums Unite a Divided World” and will highlight how museums can connect communities across culture, language, geography and social background. The programme is organised through cooperation between the Ministry of National Unity, the Department of Museums Malaysia, the Johor state government and Yayasan Warisan Johor, positioning the event as both a national celebration and a state-level tourism showcase.
🎉 Organisers expect participation from 36 museum institutions and agencies from state and federal levels, 12 international participants, seven side festivals and more than 1,000 contingents nationwide. The five-day event is scheduled from June 24 to 28, and is expected to support visitor traffic, heritage awareness, local tourism spending and Johor’s cultural branding as a family-friendly destination.
