Pakatan Finalises Johor Seat Talks, Awaits Presidential Council Approval
🗳️ Pakatan Harapan has completed negotiations on the allocation of all 56 seats for the upcoming Johor state election, according to secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. The agreement was reached at the coalition secretariat level after discussions involving component parties, giving PH a clearer internal framework before the campaign machinery moves into a more active phase and voters begin watching how each bloc prepares for the contest.
📌 Saifuddin said the arrangement is not yet final because it still needs to be presented to the PH presidential council for formal endorsement. He explained that his role is to manage and facilitate the seat negotiation process, while the final decision rests with the higher coalition leadership chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This means the current list is a negotiated proposal, not yet the final public line-up.
🔎 The development is important because Johor has 56 state seats and is expected to draw close attention from major political blocs. Saifuddin also indicated that only a small number of overlapping claims surfaced during negotiations and that those issues had been resolved. For PH, settling seat distribution early may help reduce internal friction, align campaign resources, and allow local machinery to focus more clearly on voter outreach, candidate positioning, and constituency-level messaging.
