Kitchen Story Sdn. Bhd. recently completed a kitchen cabinet renovation project at Lucerne Residences, Bayan Lepas, near Penang International Airport. This project was designed for an existing client who has appointed Kitchen Story for the renovation of three different homes, making this a meaningful repeat-client project built on trust, service consistency and practical design advice.
The client preferred a clean, tidy and minimalist interior concept, with a warm neutral colour palette that keeps the home looking bright, calm and easy to maintain. The kitchen was designed with a balance of practical storage, durable materials and refined detailing suitable for modern condominium living in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
For the kitchen cabinet, Kitchen Story used E0 melamine cabinet carcass with ABS edging, paired with solid plywood doors finished with Lamitak laminate. A mixture of GM glass door panels was added to create a lighter and more premium display effect without making the kitchen look too heavy. The countertop and kitchen back panel were completed using sintered stone, giving the kitchen a clean, seamless and durable surface.
For hardware, the project included a BLUM soft-closing drawer system and DTC soft-closing hinges for cabinet doors. These hardware selections help improve daily usability, reduce noise and support long-term cabinet performance.
During the project, the client also added a custom-made suspended TV cabinet. As the TV cabinet is a wall-hung design, Kitchen Story used a solid plywood carcass to provide better strength and support compared with standard lightweight carcass materials.
This completed project reflects Kitchen Story’s approach to residential renovation in Penang: practical design planning, material suitability, neat workmanship, and professional advice tailored to the client’s lifestyle.

The client wanted a clean and tidy kitchen, but condominium kitchens usually require careful planning because storage, appliances, laundry space and walking space are all limited.
The design involved Lamitak laminate, GM glass doors, sintered stone, warm lighting and neutral cabinet colours. If not planned properly, too many materials can make a compact kitchen look visually busy.
A hanging TV cabinet cannot be treated the same as a normal floor-standing cabinet. The carcass material and wall support must be considered carefully.
Because this was the client’s third home renovated by Kitchen Story, the standard of advice, detailing and delivery had to remain consistent.
Kitchen Story kept the main design direction simple and practical, using a warm minimalist palette that blends well with the home’s existing flooring, walls and lighting.
For the kitchen, the team selected durable and easy-to-maintain cabinet materials, including E0 melamine carcass, solid plywood Lamitak laminate doors, and sintered stone surfaces. The use of GM glass doors helped soften the cabinet appearance while adding a premium display feature.
The countertop and back panel were both completed in sintered stone to create a clean and consistent kitchen surface. This also makes the kitchen easier to clean compared with using multiple wall finishes or complicated backsplash materials.
For functionality, BLUM soft-closing drawer systems and DTC soft-closing hinges were used to improve the daily user experience. The final-added TV cabinet was built with a solid plywood carcass because a suspended cabinet requires stronger material support.
The completed home presents a clean, organised and comfortable interior that matches the client’s preference for a minimalist lifestyle. The kitchen feels bright and practical, while the combination of laminate, glass, sintered stone and soft lighting creates a refined but not overly complicated look.
This project also demonstrates why repeat clients continue to appoint Kitchen Story Sdn. Bhd. for home renovation and custom cabinetry works in Penang: professional advice, suitable material recommendations, and practical workmanship for real daily living.
