PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Trimstar PVC Skim Coat Corner Bead (TS Series) is an essential architectural profile designed to create sharp, straight, and durable corners for interior and exterior walls. Specifically engineered for thin-coat plastering (skim coating), this bead reinforces vulnerable 90-degree corners against impact, chipping, and cracking.

Featuring a unique hexagonal perforated wing design, it provides an excellent mechanical key, allowing the skim coat material to bond securely through the profile to the substrate. This eliminates the need for time-consuming manual corner shaping and ensures a professional, high-quality finish on AAC blocks and RC structures.

Application Instruction

• Measurement: Measure the height of the corner and cut the PVC Corner Bead to size using fine-toothed shears or a hacksaw.

• Dabbing: Apply small "dabs" of skim coat or joint compound every 200mm to 300mm along the length of the wall corner.

• Positioning: Press the bead firmly onto the corner. Ensure the nose of the bead is perfectly plumb using a spirit level.

• Embedding: Use a putty knife or trowel to spread the excess compound through the hexagonal perforations. This "locks" the bead into place.

• First Coat: Once the dabs are set, apply the first full layer of skim coat over the wings, feathering it out away from the corner.

• Final Finish: After the first coat dries, apply a final thin layer of skim coat to flush the wall surface with the 2mm nose of the bead.

Recommended Coating System

• Base Layer: 2–3mm thick skim coat (cementitious or gypsum-based).

• Reinforcement: The PVC TS A1 profile itself acts as the structural reinforcement for the corner.

• Top Finish: Interior or exterior grade emulsion paint.

Surface Preparation

• Substrate Inspection: Ensure the AAC block or RC surface is straight and free of large mortar protrusions.

• Cleanliness: Remove all dust, debris, and oil from the corner area.

• Compatibility: Ideal for 100mm thick AAC Blocks or Reinforced Concrete (RC) walls as indicated in the technical diagrams.

• Pre-wetting: For highly porous substrates like AAC blocks, lightly dampen the corner before applying the bonding compound to prevent the skim coat from drying too quickly and cracking.
