Shibas have a very distinct personality:
Independent & strong-willed
Loyal to family but not overly clingy
Alert—excellent watchdog
Clean and easy to house-train
Can be aloof with strangers
Great with adults; require socialization for children and other pets
They are often described as a mix between a cat and a dog.
Smart but stubborn
Not naturally eager to please
Consistent training + positive reinforcement needed
Early socialization is essential to prevent reactivity
Can be vocal (Shiba scream!)

Double coat → heavy shedding twice a year (“blow coat”)

Nails grow fast → regular trimming
Clean ears as needed
Medium to high energy
Requires daily walks + mental enrichment
Likes structured activities (agility, hiking)
Can be an escape artist → secure fencing needed
