Shenzhen University International Chinese Teacher Scholarship

Scholarship Details

I. Target Applicants
  1. Non-Chinese citizens
  2. Friendly towards China, no criminal record, abides by Chinese laws, regulations, and school rules
  3. Physically and mentally healthy, excellent in character and academics
  4. Aspiring to engage in Chinese language education, teaching, and related work
  5. Age 16-35 (as of September 1, 2025). In-service Chinese teachers can be extended to 45 years old, and undergraduate scholarship applicants generally should not exceed 25 years old.
II. Scholarship Categories and Application Requirements

1. Master's in International Chinese Language Education

  • Enrollment in September 2025, funding period 2 years.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree, and Chinese proficiency test scores must reach HSK (Level 5) 210 points, HSKK (Intermediate) 60 points.
  • Priority given to those who provide an employment agreement or relevant proof from an institution intending to hire them after graduation.

2. Bachelor's in International Chinese Language Education

  • Enrollment in September 2025, maximum funding period 4 years.
  • Must have a high school diploma, and Chinese proficiency test scores must reach HSK (Level 4) 210 points, HSKK (Intermediate) 60 points.
III. Scholarship Coverage and Standards

Scholarship Coverage

Scholarship coverage includes: tuition fees, accommodation fees, living expenses, and comprehensive medical insurance fees.

Accommodation

Our university provides free dormitory accommodation for undergraduate students in Chinese International Education and master's students in International Chinese Education who receive scholarship support for the actual duration of the scholarship, generally in double rooms. For those who apply for off-campus accommodation and receive our university's approval, the university will provide an accommodation subsidy of CNY 700 per month. Students can choose to live on or off campus. Due to the limited number of on-campus dormitories, the university adheres to the "first come, first served" principle, and students will pay accommodation fees according to the room type and charging standards.

Living Expenses

Living expenses are issued monthly by our university. The standard for undergraduate students in Chinese International Education is CNY 2,500 per month, and for master's students in International Chinese Education it is CNY 3,000 per month. Scholarship students must report for enrollment within the time specified in our university's admission notice, otherwise their scholarship eligibility will be cancelled. For those who register at the university on or before the 15th of the current month (including the 15th), a full month's living expenses will be issued; for those who register after the 15th, half a month's living expenses will be issued for the current month. During the scholarship period (excluding normal holidays), if a scholarship student leaves China for personal reasons for more than 15 days, living expenses during their absence will be suspended; if a scholarship student suspends schooling, withdraws from school, or is disciplined by our university for personal reasons, living expenses will be suspended from the date of suspension, withdrawal, or receipt of disciplinary notice; living expenses for graduating (completing) students will be issued for half a month after the graduation (completion) date determined by the university.

Medical Insurance

Comprehensive medical insurance fees are implemented in accordance with relevant regulations for international students coming to China issued by the Ministry of Education of China, and are uniformly purchased by our university. The standard for one academic year or more is CNY 800 per person per year.

Annual Review & Eligibility Cancellation

Degree students must participate in an annual review, as detailed in the "Annual Review Procedures for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship". Those who fail the review will have their scholarship eligibility suspended or cancelled. Those who do not report on time, fail the entrance physical examination, withdraw midway, or suspend schooling will have their scholarship eligibility cancelled.

IV. Application Procedures
  1. From February 20, 2025 to May 15, 2025, applicants can log in to the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website (Contact E-Square to get website) International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship section, search for recommending institutions and our university, submit application materials online, track application progress, review opinions and scholarship results; scholarship recipients confirm study procedures in China with our university; register according to the time specified in our university's admission notice. (Note: After submitting the application on the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website, applicants must also register on our university's international student registration website Contact E-Square to get website for online application registration, and upload the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship application form as proof of application fee payment.)
  2. In-service Chinese teachers applying for various scholarships can provide employment certificates and recommendation letters issued by their employers, and will receive priority admission under equal conditions.
  3. Those who have obtained an "International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate" in various "Chinese Bridge" competitions should log in to the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website and submit application materials to the university with their certificate. For any questions, please consult E-Square.
V. Application Materials
  1. Scanned copy of passport photo page.
  2. Scanned copy of HSK, HSKK score report (valid for two years).
  3. Recommendation letter issued by the head of the recommending institution.
  4. Highest education certificate (graduation expectation certificate) and academic transcripts for applicants of degree programs.
  5. Applicants for Master's in International Chinese Education must submit recommendation letters from two supervisors with associate professor titles or above. Those with employment agreements from intended teaching institutions after graduation will be given priority for funding.
  6. In-service Chinese language teachers must provide employment certificates and recommendation letters issued by their employing institutions.
  7. Applicants under 18 years old must submit a notarized guardianship statement signed by a guardian in China.
  8. Other supporting documents required by our university.

If the above supporting documents are not in Chinese or English, corresponding notarized documents must be provided.
