Overview

The OPTIWAVE 5400 is a 2-wire 24 GHz radar (FMCW) level transmitter for liquids in basic process applications. It is particularly designed for continuous, non-contact level measurement in the chemical, petrochemical, power as well as oil and gas industry. It can be equipped with a PP Drop antenna for condensing atmospheres and corrosive media but features also Metallic Horn antennas. Due to its high dynamic range, the 24 GHz radar can measure distances up to 100 m / 328 ft.

2-wire, loop-powered, with HART®7
PP Drop antenna:
- Insensitive to condensation
- Small beam angle (5° with DN150 / 6″ Drop antenna)
- Ellipsoidal shape and smooth surface to minimise scaling
- PP flange plate protection and cladded antenna extensions for corrosive media
- New DN100 / 4″ Drop antenna for distances up to 80 m / 262.5 ft
316L Metallic Horn antenna with optional purging system
TBM (Tank Bottom Management) ensures reliable measurement even in empty tanks:
- dedicated algorithms to filter and compensate for irregular radar wave reflections that occur at tank bottom when the vessel is empty
- allows for quick and easy commissioning of tanks regardless of their size, material or geometry
±2 mm / ±0.08″ accuracy
