Stablon (tianeptine sodium) is prescribed for:
Neurotic or reactive depression
Anxio depressive states often with psychosomatic symptoms (e.g., gastrointestinal complaints)
Anxio depressive states in alcohol withdrawal
Standard adult dose:
12.5 /mg, three times daily (morning, midday, evening), taken at the beginning of main meals
Special populations:
Elderly (> /65 /yrs): standard dose, but if weight <55 /kg, reduce to 2 tablets/day.
Severe renal impairment (ClCr /<19 /mL/min) or severe hepatic cirrhosis (Child–Pugh C): 2 tablets/day
Discontinuation:
Do not stop abruptly—taper gradually over 7–14 days to avoid withdrawal symptoms
Administration:
Swallow tablets whole, with food. Do not chew or crush.
