Construction group Bina Puri Holdings Bhd has secured a RM42.5 million contract to carry out construction works for a development located in the Limbang district of Sarawak, strengthening its project pipeline despite ongoing financial challenges involving several subsidiaries.
According to a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the contract was awarded to the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Bina Puri Builder Sdn Bhd, by Mexajati Sdn Bhd. The appointment was confirmed through a letter of award for the role of main contractor.
Under the agreement, Bina Puri Builder will be responsible for executing and completing the full scope of construction works for the project. However, the contract excludes design responsibilities, indicating that the company will primarily focus on the building and structural components of the development. The exact type and details of the project have not yet been disclosed.
Bina Puri has maintained a long-standing presence in Sarawak’s construction sector, having previously delivered several notable developments in the state. Among its completed projects are the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building and the well-known retail complex Plaza Merdeka Kuching.
The latest contract win provides some positive momentum for the group as it continues managing legal and financial pressures involving winding-up petitions filed against several of its subsidiaries.
From a broader property market perspective, construction activity across Malaysia — including infrastructure and mixed-use developments — often drives demand in key real estate segments. As economic growth continues to influence property expansion, developers and investors remain focused on opportunities in commercial property in KL, as well as strategic industrial zones such as industrial land in Selangor, factory in Puchong, and industrial property in Subang area. At the same time, business hubs like office space in Bukit Jalil are gaining traction among companies seeking modern workspaces connected to Kuala Lumpur’s expanding infrastructure network.
On the stock market, shares of Bina Puri ended Friday’s trading session slightly higher, rising half a sen to close at 30 sen. The company currently holds a market capitalisation of approximately RM267.9 million.
