On 15 January 2026, the technical team from EKG (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd performed re-fiber and lamination works on a cooling tower cold water basin. These works were carried out to restore structural integrity, prevent leaks, and ensure long-term operational efficiency of the basin.
Cooling tower cold water basins are constantly exposed to water, chemicals, and environmental stress, which can cause surface degradation, cracks, or delamination over time. Without proper cooling tower maintenance, these issues may lead to leakage, reduced water containment, and higher repair costs.
The re-fiber process focused on repairing worn or damaged areas of the cold water basin. Surfaces were cleaned and prepared, then reinforced with new fiber layers to restore strength and durability. Proper cooling tower re-fiber works prevent further deterioration while maintaining the basin’s structural performance.
Following the re-fiber repair, lamination works were applied to protect the basin surfaces from moisture, chemicals, and wear. Lamination provides an extra protective layer that improves durability and extends the life of the cold water basin.
Well-executed cooling tower lamination reduces the risk of cracks and fiber exposure, ensuring long-term reliability.
Re-fiber and lamination works are essential components of preventive HVAC maintenance. Addressing structural and surface issues early prevents major system failures, minimizes downtime, and maintains consistent cooling tower performance.
Proactive cooling tower maintenance supports operational efficiency, reduces long-term costs, and ensures reliable performance of critical building systems.
At EKG (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, all cold water basin re-fiber and lamination works are carried out with precision, safety, and quality in mind. Each task is executed to ensure durability, reliability, and efficient operation of the cooling tower system.
