Most modern Ecology Units in the Klang Valley utilize a combination of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) displays.
This is the most common alarm. It indicates the Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) cells are not receiving the correct voltage.
The Cause: Often caused by "heavy grease loading" or a piece of debris short-circuiting the ionizing wires.
M&E Fix: We perform a high-voltage insulation test. If the panel won't reset, we perform a chemical deep clean of the cells and inspect the insulators for cracks.
The Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controls the blower motor speed.
The Cause: "Overcurrent" usually means the motor is struggling against a mechanical blockage or a seized bearing. "Low Pressure" suggests a snapped belt or an open access door.
M&E Fix: We check the motor winding resistance and belt tension. We also recalibrate the pressure transducers to ensure the Building Pressure Management remains positive.
The Cause: The differential pressure sensors detect that the Carbon Filtration trays or pre-filters are saturated.
M&E Fix: We measure the actual static pressure. If the filters are clean but the alarm persists, we clear the sensor "sensing lines" which often get clogged with grease in Malaysian kitchens.

Interlock Failure: If the Ecology Unit won't start, we check the interlock with the Kitchen Make-up Air (MUA) system. If the supply fan isn't running, the exhaust is often programmed to stay off to prevent "Negative Pressure" and "Whistling Doors."
Phase Monitoring: KL power grids can occasionally experience surges. We inspect the phase failure relays in your panel to ensure the motor isn't "single-phasing," which would burn out the windings.
BMS Communication Loss: If your unit is integrated into a Building Management System, we troubleshoot the Modbus or BACnet wiring to ensure your facilities team can see real-time status.
