For this One Imperial Residence project in Relau, Penang, Kitchen Story was engaged to design and build a simple, practical and clean-looking kitchen cabinet system. The client wanted a bright and functional kitchen with a compact breakfast counter that could comfortably seat two people, without making the living and dining area feel crowded.
The project also included a custom TV cabinet using a matching light wood concept, creating a consistent and minimalist interior flow from the kitchen area to the living space.
The final design focuses on clean lines, light colour tones, practical storage and easy daily maintenance, suitable for condominium living in Relau, Penang.

The overall design direction is simple modern with light wood texture. The kitchen uses a clean white and wood combination to make the space feel brighter, wider and easier to maintain.
The breakfast counter was designed as a practical extension of the kitchen. It creates a casual dining area for two people while also functioning as a light preparation counter or serving counter.
For the TV area, we designed a minimalist TV cabinet with a light wood feature panel, white drawer fronts and black glass display details. The design keeps the living area clean while providing hidden storage for media items and household essentials.

The main challenge was to create a kitchen that looked simple but still provided enough storage, countertop space and seating function within a compact condominium layout.
Another challenge was the breakfast counter. The counter needed to seat two people comfortably while maintaining proper walking clearance and visual openness between the kitchen and living area.
For the TV cabinet, the challenge was to create a feature wall that looked clean without appearing too plain. It also needed to provide practical storage without making the living area feel heavy or congested.
To solve the kitchen layout issue, we designed a compact L-shaped kitchen with a breakfast counter extension. This gives the client additional countertop space and a casual dining area while keeping the layout practical for daily cooking.
We selected solid plywood with Lamitak high-pressure laminate for the kitchen cabinet because it provides better durability, stable structure and a wide range of finishing options. The sintered stone countertop was chosen for its modern appearance, heat resistance, stain resistance and easy maintenance.
For the TV cabinet, we used a light wood feature panel with white and black contrast details. This creates a simple but refined focal point for the living area, while the lower base cabinet provides useful hidden storage.
The completed project delivers a bright, clean and practical home interior for One Imperial Residence in Relau, Penang. The kitchen cabinet offers a simple modern look with durable materials, while the breakfast counter adds lifestyle value for daily meals or light preparation work.
