PETALING JAYA (Nov 7, 2025) — Sime Darby Property Bhd and SD Guthrie Bhd have entered into a landmark partnership to jointly develop a next-generation industrial and logistics hub spanning approximately 3,000 acres in Kuala Selangor.
The collaboration, structured as a 50:50 joint venture, marks a significant step in advancing Selangor’s position as Malaysia’s leading industrial and logistics powerhouse. The first phase of the master development will cover 1,000 acres, located within Guthrie’s Jalan Acob, Bukit Kerayong, and Bukit Cherakah estates.
Both companies will formalise the venture through a special-purpose vehicle (SPV) dedicated to the project’s planning and execution, paving the way for long-term economic and infrastructural growth within the state.
Situated in a prime growth corridor, the new industrial hub is just 40 minutes from Port Klang and enjoys close proximity to Bandar Bukit Raja, Sime Darby Property’s award-winning township. The site offers seamless connectivity via the West Coast Expressway and the upcoming East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) — two critical arteries for logistics and trade expansion.
SD Guthrie group managing director Datuk Mohamad Helmy Othman Basha said the partnership underscores Guthrie’s renewed focus on unlocking land value through strategic alliances while driving sustainable development in Selangor.
“This joint venture reinforces our new business direction to build synergistic partnerships that create long-term value while supporting the state’s sustainable growth. Guthrie has always contributed to national development — from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Putrajaya — and we remain committed to balancing national goals with shareholder value,” he said.
Sime Darby Property group managing director and CEO Datuk Seri Azmir Merican said the collaboration allows the company to deliver holistic master planning and integrated industrial solutions that meet the needs of high-growth industries and regional supply chains.
“This opportunity allows us to capture the next wave of industrial and logistics demand through sustainable, future-ready developments. With Guthrie’s landbank and our proven expertise, we aim to create a vibrant ecosystem that drives long-term growth across Selangor’s industrial corridor,” Azmir said.
The project will leverage Sime Darby Property’s experience in building world-class industrial ecosystems, such as Bandar Bukit Raja, which has become one of Malaysia’s most successful examples of modern industrial and logistics integration.
The partnership comes on the heels of the Guthrie–Sime Darby Property Carey Island JV announced earlier this year, reinforcing a broader regional industrial corridor strategy stretching from Klang and Kapar to Carey Island.
This strategic alignment links inland industrial operations with Selangor’s growing maritime infrastructure, aligning with government plans to establish a world-class port off Carey Island. With its strategic proximity to Port Klang and Pulau Indah, Selangor is poised to solidify its standing as the nation’s premier logistics and manufacturing hub.
Industry observers note that this large-scale collaboration is set to boost demand for industrial land in Selangor, while also driving investment activity across the Subang industrial area, factories in Puchong, and nearby logistics zones.
As Selangor strengthens its role as Malaysia’s economic engine, related sectors — including commercial property in KL and office spaces in Bukit Jalil — are expected to benefit from the spillover effects of industrial expansion, particularly in corporate headquarters, logistics management, and technology-driven supply chain operations.
This strategic partnership between Sime Darby Property and SD Guthrie stands as a key milestone in shaping the next generation of industrial and logistics infrastructure in Malaysia, redefining how sustainable and connected industrial ecosystems are built.
