 Why does this rocker switch have 3 pins instead of 2?

The third pin is specifically for the integrated LED indicator. While two pins handle the main power switching, the third pin allows you to connect the internal lamp to ground (or neutral), enabling it to glow when the switch is turned on.

Can I use the 12V DC version for an AC project?

No. It is critical to select the correct variation for your project. Using a 12V DC version on 240V AC will burn out the internal indicator lamp immediately and may create a safety hazard.

 How do I mount this switch?

This is a snap-in switch designed for a standard circular cutout. Simply prepare a hole based on the $17\text{mm} \times 14.85\text{mm}$ dimensions and press the switch through the front of the panel until the side clips click into place.
