Mexan 80 /mg Tablets are indicated for:
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus – NIDDM)
Specifically used when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone are not sufficient to control blood glucose.
May be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents (e.g., metformin, insulin) when dual therapy is appropriate.
Initial dose: Usually 40–80 /mg once daily, taken with breakfast.
Dose can be titrated gradually (e.g., by 40–80 /mg increments) every 1–2 weeks depending on blood glucose response.
Maximum daily dose: 320 /mg, usually divided into 2 doses.
Always follow your doctor’s specific instructions. Never self-adjust your dose.
Take the tablet with food, ideally breakfast or the first main meal.
Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised.
Maintain a consistent schedule daily to avoid missed doses and reduce risk of hypoglycemia.
Monitor blood glucose regularly.
Risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), especially:
If meals are skipped
In elderly or malnourished individuals
If combined with other antidiabetic drugs or alcohol
Not recommended for type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or severe renal/hepatic impairment.
Store below 30°C in a dry place.
