AHU/FCU Base Frame Modification & Ducting Repair

1. Structural Fabrication & Welding

  • Frame Reinforcement: Technicians are welding additional hollow section steel to the existing AHU/FCU base frame.

  • On-site Support Work: Welding and grinding are being used to modify the structural platform, likely to improve load distribution or level the unit.

  • Hot Work Safety: Fire extinguishers are staged on-site, and technicians are following safety protocols during welding.


2. Insulation & Vapor Barrier Sealing

  • Ducting Repair: Extensive application of aluminum foil tape to seal the insulation around the duct-to-unit connection.

  • Condensation Prevention: The sealing ensures a continuous vapor barrier to prevent sweating and air leakage at the inlet/outlet.


3. Vibration Isolation & Protection

  • Isolator Installation: The corners of the frame are being fitted with vibration isolation pads or protective covers to reduce noise transmission through the building structure.

  • Base Leveling: Adjustments are being made to the galvanized steel frame to ensure the unit sits correctly on its concrete plinths.


4. Housekeeping & Completion

  • Site Cleanup: Post-welding debris and slag are being cleared to maintain a clean mechanical room environment.

  • Pipe Alignment: Verification of condensate drain and refrigerant piping alignment following the frame modifications.
