Location: Lot 10 Hutong Food Court, Bukit Bintang

Duration: 13th March – 18th March

Scope of Work: Deep cleaning and mechanical degreasing of primary kitchen exhaust ducts.

  • Cleaning of exhaust fan blowers and housing.

  • Removal of solidified grease deposits to restore optimal airflow.

  • Inspection of duct joints and access panels.


The Challenge: High-Volume Grease Management

Lot 10 Hutong is one of KL’s busiest food hubs. With multiple vendors cooking simultaneously, the exhaust system carries a massive load of airborne grease and oil. Over time, this grease coats the interior of the ductwork, creating two major risks:

  1. Fire Hazard: Accumulated grease is highly flammable; one spark from a stove can ignite the entire duct line.

  2. System Inefficiency: Grease buildup narrows the duct diameter, forcing exhaust fans to work harder, increasing energy costs and leaving smoke in the dining area.

Our Solution: A 6-Day Deep Clean

Given the complexity of the food court layout, our team executed a systematic cleaning over several nights to ensure zero disruption to business hours.

  • Mechanical Degreasing: We used specialized scrapers and industrial-grade degreasing agents to break down "baked-on" grease that standard cleaning cannot remove.

  • Blower & Fan Servicing: A key part of this job was cleaning the exhaust fan blades. Even a few millimeters of grease on a blade can cause an imbalance, leading to vibration, noise, and eventual motor failure.

  • Detailed Inspection: While degreasing, we inspected the ductwork for any oil leaks at the flanges or joints that could drip onto kitchen surfaces.
