TX PVC WATERSTOP
Description
CORKJOINT® TX PVC Waterstop is a specially designed profile for use in construction or expansion/isolation joints in concrete where you require a waterstop in the joint between an existing structure to a new structure.
PVC waterstops are widely used in construction projects to prevent the passage of water through concrete joints. These waterstops are made of high-quality PVC materials and come in various sizes and shapes to fit different concrete joint requirements.
One of the most popular PVC waterstop is the ribbed profile. This waterstop has a series of ribs along the length of the strip, which helps to anchor it in place in the concrete. The ribs also provide additional strength and durability to the waterstop, making it ideal for use in areas that are subject to heavy traffic or other types of wear and tear.
Uses
All types of construction or expansion/isolation joints in concrete where an existing structure and new structure meet and require a waterstop.
Example Applications:
Basements and substructures: PVC waterstops are used to prevent water from seeping into basements and other below-ground structures. The waterstops are placed in the joints between the walls and floors to create a watertight seal.
Water treatment facilities: PVC waterstops are used in the construction of water treatment facilities to prevent water from leaking out of tanks and other structures.
Bridges and tunnels: PVC waterstops are used in the construction of bridges and tunnels to prevent water from seeping into the joints between the concrete sections
Dams and canals: PVC waterstops are used in the construction of dams and canals to prevent water from leaking out of the concrete structures.
Swimming pools: PVC waterstops are used in the construction of swimming pools to prevent water from seeping through the joints between the walls and floors.
Advantages
Ability to waterstop the joint where traditional PVC waterstop profiles or other waterstop systems cannot be placed.
Able to accommodate large movements in expansion/isolation joints due to its innovative design.
Able to accommodate longitudinal, lateral and differential movements in expansion/isolation joints.
A high performance material produced from virgin PVC compound (refer to material specification) giving long-term integrity and durability over time. No scrap or recycled PVC’s are used.
Water stops the joint and allows it to expand and contract freely from movements caused by thermal fluctuations and serviceability loads from within the structure.
Application
Installation of TX PVC Waterstop must be in accordance with the engineers installation procedures (refer to our “Installation Method Guideline”).
TX PVC Waterstop and its ancillary items for installation must be supplied from CORKJOINT® (refer to our “Installation Method Guideline – Ancillary Items List”).
The concrete should be fully vibrated around the TX PVC Waterstop to help achieve ultimate sealing capabilities and full integration of the waterstop into the structure.
Joining of TX PVC Waterstop should be performed by heat welding with special equipment provided by CORKJOINT® (refer to our job site joining/welding method guideline).
Factory fabricated intersections must be used to connect traditional types of PVC waterstop to TX PVC Waterstop. Special intersections will be required to join the waterstops that are being used in the construction or expansion joints that run perpendicular into the construction, expansion/isolation joint where the TX PVC Waterstop is to be placed. Contact CORKJOINT® for further details.
All joints of the concrete structure that run perpendicular into the construction or expansion/ isolation joint where the TX PVC Waterstop is to be used, must have waterstops in them. If they are construction joints, then traditional construction joint PVC waterstops or a Hydrophilic Waterstop can be used (refer to our recommended installation procedures). If traditional PVC waterstops are to be used, then refer to item.
