Trait | What to Expect |
---|---|
Size & Weight | Very small / toy size. Typically around 2–4 kg (≈ 4.5-9 lbs). |
Height | Usually about 20-25 cm (≈ 7-9 inches) at the shoulder. |
Coat | Long, silky, pure white (though small amount of ivory or lemon tint, or very light markings, may be tolerated in some lines). The coat is dense and without an undercoat. |
Shedding | Low shedding. Because there’s no undercoat, there tends to be less loose fur, though grooming is still demanding. |
Eyes / Face / Ears | Dark eyes, black nose, floppy ears; expressive face. Tail is plumed and carried over the back. |
Very affectionate, loving, tends to bond closely with its owner. They like being companions and are often “people-dogs.”
Lively and playful, but not hyperactive. They need regular light exercise (walks, play), but not heavy physical demands.
Intelligent and capable of training; they respond well to positive reinforcement. However, because of their small size, training should be gentle — harsh methods are not good.
Alert and can be vocal — quick to bark or alert at visitors, unfamiliar sounds etc. They make good watchdogs in that sense though obviously not guard dogs.
They may suffer from separation anxiety if left alone too long; like having human company
