What does the switch actually do?
The switch determines the signal direction. Set it to "Input" to send signals from RCA devices (like a console) to a SCART TV. Set it to "Output" to extract signals from a SCART device (like a VCR) to an RCA monitor or capture card.
Can I use S-Video and RCA at the same time?
Generally, you should use either the Yellow RCA port or the S-Video port for your video signal to avoid interference, while the Red and White ports provide the accompanying stereo audio.
Will this work for my retro gaming setup?
Absolutely. It is a favorite among retro gamers for connecting classic consoles to European-standard CRT televisions or upscalers.
