KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 26): Richmond Asia Group has named Frasers Hospitality as the hotel management partner for the serviced hotel suites at Richmond Mayor, its upcoming mixed-use development located in Mount Austin, Johor.
In a statement issued on Jan 13, the group said the collaboration will see Frasers Hospitality bring its international operational expertise to the project, which will comprise 275 hotel suites operated under the Capri by Fraser brand. The property is scheduled to commence operations in 2030.
The hotel component will feature a mix of studio units as well as one- and two-bedroom apartments, supported by a range of lifestyle and business-oriented facilities. These include an all-day dining outlet, residents’ lounge, swimming pool, fitness centre and dedicated meeting spaces.
Frasers Hospitality, a strategic business unit of Frasers Property, currently manages a global portfolio of more than 100 properties across over 20 countries, spanning serviced apartments, hotels and mixed-use developments.
Richmond Asia Group chief executive officer Aaron Yap said the appointment of Frasers Hospitality is expected to enhance the investment appeal of Richmond Mayor, positioning it as a premium accommodation option for both residents and investors.
Strategically located within one of Johor Bahru’s fastest-growing precincts, Richmond Mayor is an integrated development that will also feature a lifestyle retail mall, office and serviced suites, as well as serviced residences. The project’s first phase, known as Tower A, will house the hotel suites together with the office and serviced suites component.
The latest hotel management agreement follows Richmond Asia Group’s earlier collaboration with Barceló Hotels and Resorts for its Richmond Estelar development in Kuala Lumpur, reinforcing the group’s focus on partnering with established international hospitality operators.
From a broader property market perspective, integrated developments that combine hospitality, retail and office components continue to support demand for commercial property in KL and high-quality office space in Bukit Jalil. These trends are complemented by sustained activity in the Klang Valley’s industrial sector, including ongoing demand for industrial land in Selangor, factory developments in Puchong, and well-established industrial property in the Subang area serving regional manufacturing and logistics needs.
