Content
- Active Ingredient: Each film-coated tablet contains 80 mg of atorvastatin (as atorvastatin calcium trihydrate).
- Excipients: Each tablet contains 218 mg of lactose monohydrate.
- Appearance: The tablets are white, round, 11.9 mm in diameter, film-coated, and debossed with “80” on one side and “ATV” on the other.
Indications
- Hypercholesterolemia: As an adjunct to diet for the reduction of elevated total cholesterol (total-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), apolipoprotein B, and triglycerides in adults, adolescents, and children aged 10 years or older with primary hypercholesterolemia, including familial hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous variant) or combined (mixed) hyperlipidemia (Fredrickson Types IIa and IIb) when response to diet and other non-pharmacological measures is inadequate.
- Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia (HoFH): For the reduction of total-C and LDL-C in patients with HoFH.
- Dysbetalipoproteinemia (Type III Hyperlipoproteinemia): For the treatment of adults with primary dysbetalipoproteinemia.
- Hypertriglyceridemia: For the treatment of adults with hypertriglyceridemia.
- Cardiovascular Disease Risk Reduction: To reduce the risk of myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, revascularization procedures, and angina in adults with multiple risk factors for coronary heart disease (CHD) but without clinically evident CHD.
- Type 2 Diabetes: To reduce the risk of MI and stroke in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who have multiple risk factors for CHD but without clinically evident CHD.
- Clinically Evident CHD: To reduce the risk of non-fatal MI, fatal and non-fatal stroke, revascularization procedures, hospitalization for congestive heart failure, and angina in adults with clinically evident CHD.
Instructions
- Dosage: The recommended starting dosage is 10 mg once daily, which may be adjusted based on individual response and treatment goals. The dosage range is 10 mg to 80 mg once daily.
- Administration: Lipitor may be taken at any time of the day, with or without food.
- Monitoring: Lipid levels should be assessed periodically to determine the effectiveness of therapy and to adjust the dosage if necessary.
- Missed Dose: If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.
- Storage: Store at controlled room temperature, between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F).
