3Wire RS2LAN is an advanced industrial-grade serial device server with integrated Modbus gateway functionality. It enables RS232, RS485 and RS422 serial devices to be accessed, controlled and monitored over TCP/IP or UDP/IP Ethernet networks.
RS2LAN is suitable for connecting PLCs, digital power meters, alarm sensors, PTZ camera controllers, Modbus RTU devices and other serial equipment to IP-based systems such as SCADA, BMS, EMS, AMR, energy monitoring platforms and IoTWatt 4.0.

Product Overview
Many industrial devices still communicate through serial ports, while modern control and monitoring systems rely on Ethernet and TCP/IP networks. RS2LAN bridges this gap by converting serial communications into network-accessible data.
The unit can operate in Modbus TCP Master, Modbus TCP Slave, Paired Mode and Bridge Mode. It supports direct IP access and Virtual COM operation, making it suitable for both new Ethernet-based systems and legacy software that still expects a local serial port.

Typical Communication Flow
RS2LAN connects serial field devices to an Ethernet network, allowing host PCs, PLCs, SCADA, BMS or IoTWatt systems to access remote devices through TCP/IP, UDP/IP, Modbus TCP or Virtual COM.

Supported Operating Modes
The attached application diagram shows RS2LAN operating as a Modbus TCP server to serial device gateway, Modbus TCP client to serial master gateway, pair bridge and bridge mode. This allows the same hardware to be used for multiple industrial integration requirements.
