QI-50-I AC/DC TRMS Current Transformer

The QEED QI-50-I is an AC/DC current transformer and transducer designed to measure DC current and AC TRMS current. It is galvanically isolated from the measured circuit and provides a standard 4 20mA loop-powered output.

Unlike standard active current transformers, the QI-50-I can measure both AC TRMS and DC current. As a loop-powered device, it does not require a separate auxiliary power supply, making it suitable for PLC, SCADA, BMS, EMS, data logger and industrial monitoring applications.

Overview

QI-50-I is suitable for current measurement applications where a simple 4 20mA signal is preferred. It can be connected directly to analogue input cards, PLCs, remote I/O modules, process controllers, data loggers and monitoring systems.

The transducer is especially useful for AC/DC current monitoring in battery systems, UPS, DC power panels, motor control, machinery, industrial automation and energy management systems.

DIP Switch Configuration

QI-50-I includes two DIP switches for local configuration. These switches allow selection of the current range and measurement mode.

  • Select 25A or 50A measurement scale
  • Select monopolar TRMS mode or bipolar mode
  • Use the yellow LED to confirm loop power presence
  • Switch off the power supply before changing DIP switch settings
Configuration note: Any DIP-switch change requires the power supply to be switched off first. This prevents unwanted changes during operation.

Installation Note

The current transformer can be mounted in any position using screw fixing or the included DIN rail clips. It can be installed horizontally or vertically depending on panel layout and conductor routing.

High-intensity magnetic fields can change the measured values. Avoid installation near permanent magnets, electromagnets or iron masses that may induce strong magnetic changes. If irregular measurement is observed, reorient or move the transducer to a better position.

Wiring note: As the QI-50-I is loop-powered, confirm the available loop supply voltage, PLC input type and loop resistance before installation.
