Maintaining a productive office environment starts with what you can’t see: the air. Currently, our team is on-site at a "live" office location, executing a critical Air Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV) upgrade. Working around existing cubicles and glass partitions requires a surgical approach—minimizing disruption while maximizing system performance.
Here is a look behind the ceiling tiles at the technical precision our team is bringing to this office fit-out.
In the images, you can see our technicians unrolling and prepping high-grade, insulated flexible ducts. These silver, foil-wrapped tubes are the final "delivery" stage of the cooling process. We use them to bridge the gap between the rigid main ductwork and individual ceiling diffusers.
Why it matters: Flexibility allows us to navigate tight plenum spaces above office ceilings without sacrificing airflow. The insulation ensures the air stays at the target temperature until it reaches your desk.
Efficiency is all about distribution. One of the key components on-site today is the galvanized steel plenum box. Think of this as a manifold; it takes a high volume of air from the main source and splits it into multiple streams via the circular spigots on the side.
The Technical Edge: By using these boxes, we can ensure consistent air pressure across different zones of the office, eliminating "hot spots" in one corner and "ice boxes" in another.
A system is only as good as its connections. Our technicians are currently meticulously applying foil tape and high-grade sealants to every joint.
The Goal: We are aiming for a 100% airtight seal. Even a small leak leads to "conditioned air loss," forcing the chillers to work harder and driving up electricity bills. Proper sealing also prevents condensation, which is the primary cause of unsightly ceiling water stains and mold growth in office environments.
Performing a retrofit or modification while an office is occupied (or semi-occupied) takes coordination. This project involves adding new cooling points to specific zones to accommodate a fresh office layout. Our goal is to ensure that when the team returns to these cubicles, the only thing they notice is how much more comfortable the air feels.
